Long waits and scattered appointments push many working adults to skip care. Here is how a concierge doctor fits around a full calendar, and what it costs.

The reminder pops up in the middle of a client call: the earliest opening is weeks away, on a weekday morning, and it means losing half a day to traffic, a waiting room and a visit that feels over before it starts. For a lot of working people in Palm Beach County, that trade-off is exactly why the checkup keeps sliding to “next year.” A concierge doctor is built to remove that friction, and for busy professionals it is often less about luxury and more about finally getting care done.
In brief
- Most people who skip care aren’t careless; the time and hassle simply don’t fit a full calendar.
- A concierge doctor gives you a direct line, same or next day visits and testing under one roof.
- Covered care is still billed to Medicare or insurance; the membership fee is separate.
Why busy people put off their health
Ask a business owner, a lawyer or a sales director when they last saw a doctor, and the answer is often a shrug. It’s rarely a lack of concern. It’s the logistics: phone queues to book, a wait once you arrive, a separate trip for blood work, another for imaging, and a follow-up call that always seems to come during a meeting.
The problem is that small things are easiest to handle early. A blood pressure reading that creeps up, a knee that aches after every run, sleep that never feels restful, a cholesterol number someone flagged two years ago. Left alone, these tend to become bigger conversations later.
What a concierge doctor changes for a working schedule
If you are new to the model, our guide to how concierge medicine works covers the basics. For people with packed calendars, three things matter most.
A direct line to your own doctor
Wave members can call, text or video their own doctor 24/7, weekends included. A quick question between meetings doesn’t have to turn into a full appointment, and when it does need a visit, you are talking to someone who already knows your history.
Visits that respect your time
Same or next day visits are the norm, and you are seen when you arrive rather than sitting in a waiting room. Appointments are unhurried, so you can cover everything on your list in one sitting instead of booking a second visit for the things you ran out of time to mention.
Testing in one stop
At our Boynton Beach office, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, labs and EKG are in the same building, and blood work is drawn right in the office. CT scans are available on location, often the same day, with expedited results. Instead of three addresses and three days off, it is usually one trip.

Three everyday situations, two very different experiences
Here is how a few common moments tend to play out the usual way versus with your own doctor.
1. A sore throat the day before a big presentation
The usual way: you find a walk-in clinic, wait your turn and explain your history to whoever is on shift.
With your own doctor: you text in the morning, get a same-day visit or a video call, and if a prescription is needed, it is sent to the pharmacy nearest you.
2. A referral to a specialist
The usual way: you get a name, make the calls yourself, wait for an opening and repeat your story from the beginning.
With your own doctor: a dedicated concierge liaison handles booking and paperwork. We normally get you in to see a specialist the same day, send your records ahead and review the results with you afterward.
3. The yearly physical
The usual way: a physical one day, a lab visit another, and imaging somewhere else if anything needs a closer look.
With your own doctor: an annual concierge physical is included with membership, blood is drawn in the office, and imaging is down the hall. Our checklist on how to prepare for your annual physical helps you get the most from it.
What it costs, and what insurance still covers
Wave accepts Medicare and most insurance. Covered medical care is billed to Medicare or your insurance as usual. The membership fee is separate and pays for the concierge service itself: the access, the time and the coordination.
- Concierge: $2,500 per member, billed every 6 months.
- Executive: $7,500 per member, billed every 6 months. Adds house calls, including blood draws at home, plus weekend urgent care visits in the office.
Couples and families get discounts, and an annual concierge physical plus a yearly IV infusion and facial are included. You can compare the details on our membership plans page.
Is it worth it for you? Five questions to ask
- How much time did health care cost you last year? Count the drives, the waits and the follow-up calls, not just the appointments.
- Do you travel for work or pleasure? Your doctor can prepare a personal travel kit for trips abroad, and you can still reach them by phone, text or video while you’re away.
- Are you managing an ongoing condition? Blood pressure, cholesterol or diabetes go better with regular check-ins. See how we approach chronic disease management.
- Would you actually use a direct line? Many members find the quick text is what keeps small issues small.
- Does your family rely on you? With your permission, family members can be kept informed, which helps when life gets complicated.
If something serious happens
When hospital care is needed, Wave can arrange direct admission to Delray Medical Center when possible, skipping the emergency room, and your doctor stays involved throughout. Prescriptions are sent to your nearest pharmacy, and one medication list is kept up to date, so nothing gets lost between offices. For any medical emergency, always call 911 first.
