Two people, one home, one doctor. Here is how a couples concierge membership works, what it includes and the questions to talk through before you join.

Most couples already share a lot: a kitchen, a calendar, a car, maybe a dog convinced you both exist to open the back door. Yet when it comes to health care, many end up with two separate doctors, two patient portals, two rounds of hold music and two medication lists that nobody ever looks at side by side. For couples in Boynton Beach and across Palm Beach County, concierge medicine offers a different setup: one practice, one doctor who knows you both, and a direct line either of you can use any time.
In brief
- Each partner keeps their own membership and private medical record, and couples get a discount.
- One doctor who knows your household can tailor advice to the life you actually share.
- Your partner can be kept informed about your care, but only with your permission.
What concierge medicine for couples actually means
Concierge medicine is a membership model. The membership fee pays for the service side of care: direct access to your own doctor, unhurried visits, quick appointments and help coordinating everything else. At Wave Concierge Medicine, covered medical care is still billed to Medicare or your insurance as usual. The membership fee is separate and covers the concierge service. (If you are new to the idea, our guide to how concierge medicine works covers the basics.)
A couples membership simply means both partners join the same practice. Each person has their own membership, their own exam, and their own medical record. Couples and families receive a discount, but the bigger benefit is harder to price: a doctor who understands your household.
Being a couple does not mean giving up privacy. You are each your own patient. Your doctor keeps your information confidential and shares details with your partner only when you say so.
Why sharing one doctor can make life easier
Advice that fits the life you live together
Couples tend to share routines: what is for dinner, how late the TV stays on, whether anyone walks after supper. When one doctor cares for both of you, conversations about blood pressure and cholesterol, sleep or nutrition can account for the household you actually run. If one of you is cutting back on salt, the change happens in a shared kitchen, and it helps when your doctor knows that.
One number saved in both phones
Members can call, text or video their own doctor 24/7, weekends included. For couples, that means a single trusted number for both of you. Whoever wakes up with the sore throat, the dizzy spell or the question about a new prescription reaches a doctor who already knows them, not a stranger reading a chart for the first time.
Less calendar juggling
Same or next day visits mean neither of you has to plan weeks ahead around two work schedules, grandchildren and tee times. Visits are unhurried, and you are seen when you arrive, so a check-up does not swallow the whole afternoon.

The usual way vs. with your own doctor
Here is how a few common situations tend to play out.
A fever on a Saturday
The usual way: One of you feels awful on a weekend. The other drives to a walk-in clinic, waits, and watches a clinician who has never met either of you try to piece together a history from memory.
With your own doctor: You call or text your doctor, who already has your history and medication list. Executive members can also come into the office for weekend urgent care visits. Your partner gets to spend Saturday helping, not sitting in a waiting room.
A specialist referral
The usual way: A referral turns your partner into a part-time secretary: calling for an appointment weeks out, chasing down records, writing notes in a waiting room, then phoning back for results.
With your own doctor: A dedicated concierge liaison handles booking and paperwork. Wave normally gets you in to see a specialist the same day, sends your records ahead and reviews the results with you. With your permission, your partner can be kept in the loop.
When one of you needs the hospital
The usual way: A trip through the emergency room, long waits, and a hospital team with no connection to your regular doctor.
With your own doctor: When your doctor decides you need to be admitted and it is possible, Wave can arrange direct admission to Delray Medical Center, skipping the ER, and your doctor stays involved. For a true emergency, always call 911 first.
Everyday benefits couples tend to notice
- Testing under one roof. Blood work is drawn right in the office, and MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, labs and EKG are in the same building. CT scans are available on location, often the same day, with expedited results.
- Medication lists that stay current. Each of you has one up-to-date medication list, and prescriptions are sent to your nearest pharmacy.
- Yearly extras for each member. An annual concierge physical and a yearly IV infusion and facial are included in the membership.
- Help before you travel. Heading abroad together? Your doctor can prepare a personal travel kit for the trip.
- Support beyond the physical. A psychologist works in the office, and a full physical therapy center is on site.
Concierge or Executive: choosing plans as a couple
Wave offers two membership plans, and partners can talk through which one fits each of them:
- Concierge: $2,500 per member, billed every 6 months.
- Executive: $7,500 per member, billed every 6 months. It adds house calls and blood draws at home, plus weekend urgent care visits in the office.
Couples receive a discount on membership. When you compare the plans, think about how you live. Does either of you find getting out to appointments harder? Do you split time between Palm Beach County and a home up north? Would weekend visits give you peace of mind? Those answers point to the right plan.
Questions to talk through before you join
- What does each of us need right now? Ongoing conditions, upcoming procedures and regular labs all shape how you will use the membership.
- How do we want information shared? Decide together what each of you is comfortable having your doctor share with the other, and say so at your first visit.
- How often do we travel? Trips abroad and seasonal moves are easier to plan with a doctor you can reach from anywhere.
- Would house calls help either of us? Recovering from surgery or managing mobility issues can make care at home worth a lot.
- How does our insurance fit in? Wave accepts Medicare and most insurance for covered medical care.
